Your Ultimate Checklist For a Longterm Stay With Remote Work Villas

If you have booked or are planning to book a Remote Work Villa stay, then there are certain things you should bring to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be. Planning for your travels can be daunting, especially how much you already have to juggle in your day to day life. So we've done our best to make this as easy as possible for you!

To ensure a seamless and transformative experience, we've put together a comprehensive checklist covering what to bring and what to do prior to your arrival. We hope this will help 

 

Checklist of What to Bring

There may be things on this list that don't make sense for you to bring, or some that are missing giving your specific needs and circumstance. This assumes you are coming solo or with a partner. If you are coming with children to a family-friendly Villa, then here is a family-edition for you! Essential Items:

  • Passport
  • Visa (if required)
  • Flight itinerary and travel documents
  • Travel insurance information
  • Villa reservation confirmation (download on phone)
  • Emergency contact numbers and addresses
  • Local currency (Indonesian Rupiah) or a top currency for exchange
  • Credit/debit cards and a secure cardholder
  • Personal identification (Driver's license, ID)
  • Medications and prescriptions (if applicable)

 

Clothing:

  • Comfortable and breathable clothing for warm weather
  • Light jacket or shawl for cooler evenings
  • Swimwear
  • Comfortable walking shoes and sandals
  • Yoga and/or exercise attire
  • Hat or cap for sun protection
  • Sleepwear
  • Undergarments
  • Socks

 

Health and Wellness:

  • Personal toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)
  • Sunscreen with high SPF
  • Insect repellent
  • Basic first aid kit (band-aids, pain relievers, any necessary prescription medications) - there will be some on premises but if you want your own feel free to bring it
  • Reusable water bottle (optional)
  • Vaccines: Generally we recommend Hepatitis A & B in most of the developing countries. Check with your travel clinic for the others. 
  • Any necessary vitamins or supplements

 

Technology and Work Essentials:

  • Laptop
  • Laptop charger
  • Power adapter
  • Mobile phone
  • Mobile charger
  • Portable power bank (optional)
  • Noise-canceling headphones (optional)
  • Pens and stationery (optional, provided)
  • Necessary work materials (documents, notebooks, etc.)

 

Mindfulness and Relaxation:

  • Yoga mat
  • Comfortable cushion or meditation pillow (for the plane mostly)
  • Lightweight blanket or shawl for meditation
  • Reading material or e-reader
  • Journal for reflective writing
  • Any specific mindfulness tools or props

 

Miscellaneous:

  • Daypack or tote bag for daily outings
  • Sunglasses
  • Vision and/or reading glasses (if applicable)
  • Travel-sized umbrella or rain poncho (optional)
  • Camera or smartphone for capturing memories (optional)

 

Optional Items:

  • Travel pillow for the journey
  • Portable speaker for relaxation music
  • Musical Instruments (guitar, hangdrum, flute, etc)
  • Art supplies for creative expression
  • Travel-friendly games or entertainment
  • Travel yoga strap or resistance bands

 

 

Checklist of What to Do Prior to Coming

There are certain things we recommend you do prior to your Villa stay, in order to maximize the experience and ensure its as enjoyable as possible. 

Travel Preparations:

  • Check Visa Requirements: Verify if a visa is required for entry and obtain it if necessary.
  • Flight and Transportation: Confirm flight details and transportation arrangements to the villa. We can provide transportation to and from the Villa - simply provide travel itinerary and contact details to the villa stay organizers.

 

Health and Safety:

  • Travel Insurance: Purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers health, travel delays, and cancellations.
  • Vaccinations and Health Check: Check and update vaccinations as recommended for travel to Bali. Consult a healthcare professional for specific health concerns.
  • Emergency Contacts: Save local emergency contact numbers and the address of the nearest hospital or clinic.

 

Retreat Logistics:

  • Payment and Documentation: Ensure all payments are settled with the retreat organizers. Have a copy of the reservation confirmation and necessary documents.
  • Communication Channels: Confirm communication channels with the retreat organizers. Join any pre-retreat communication groups or forums established by the organizers.
  • VPN Setup (if applicable): Subscribe to a reliable VPN service for secure internet connections, especially if you plan to work remotely. Test and set up the VPN on your devices before traveling.

 

Work and Technology:

  • Remote Work Setup: Test remote work equipment and ensure everything is in working order. Set up necessary software and tools for remote work.
  • Communication Tools: Download and familiarize yourself with any communication tools used during the retreat.
  • Company Approval: Discuss your participation with your employer and obtain any necessary approvals. Ensure that your remote work arrangement is approved and aligned with your company's policies.

 

Mindfulness and Self-Reflection:

  • Pre-Program Assignments: Complete any pre-retreat assignments or activities provided by the organizers. Log in to gain access to the course.

  • Arrival Information: Communicate your arrival details to the retreat organizers. Be aware of any airport transportation or transfer details provided.
  • VPN Access During Stay: Ensure that your VPN service works seamlessly at the retreat location. Test the VPN connection upon arrival to guarantee a secure connection.
  • Orientation Session: Attend any pre-retreat orientation sessions or virtual meetings.
